Destination groups combine destinations with the same per diem amounts into zones. Per diem rates are defined per destination group. Per diem expense line entries use the destination visited.

In Australia, the per diem is defined by the Australian Tax Office. Each major city has its own daily travel allowance. For example, you can create the destination group and destination as Melbourne.

A number of non-Australian destinations have the same daily travel allowance. You should group destinations together in zones based on the per diem dollar amounts. If, for example, New York and Los Angeles have the same daily travel allowance dollar amounts, create Zone 1 as the destination group and New York and Los Angeles as destinations.
