AP GL Account Generation Hierarchy

Learn about the hierarchy Greentree Desktop follows to generate the initial general ledger account for a general ledger line on these documents:

  • AP invoice
  • AP credit note
  • Purchase order

When entering a general ledger line on these documents the general ledger account is determined from a combination of:

  • GL Account Segment Sequence defaults
  • Supplier Expense Account
  • Branch GL Account structure
  • GL Account Segment persistent setting
  • GL Account Segment visibility and default value

The Supplier Suspense Account and Branch GL Account structure can contain wildcards.

The order of precedence is

  1. If the GL Segment is not visible this is used
  2. For GL Lines after the first line, if the GL Segment is persistent then the value from the previous line is used for that segment
  3. Values contained in the Supplier Expense Account
  4. Values contained in the Branch GL Account Structure

If a complete GL Account is generated and it is not valid then the GL Account filed is blank.
