Tax Class Maintenance


You can use a tax class to group sales items so they can be taxed at a specific rate. You can only use tax classes if Australian WET or North American sales tax is being applied. You can assign a class to an inventory item, general ledger account code, AR non-inventory sales code, and job sales code.

You assign a tax rate to each class at a location level. This enables each tax class to have a different rate of tax, depending on the location to which the rate is assigned.

Options Reference

Each option and field on the form is described below. Mandatory options and fields are highlighted in red.

Tax class

Enter or select a tax class, up to 10 characters long.

Description

Enter a description of the tax class, up to 50 characters long.

Once a tax class is set up, you can assign it to a location where rates are specified.
