Changing References

warning

Editing a reference is a lot more dangerous than editing an attribute, so caution is required before a change is committed. If you are unsure, always talk with your Greentree consultant before making a change.

If you drill down on a reference from the results table, and change the value of an attribute on that reference, it is not actually only the selected record you are changing. You are in fact changing the attribute of the reference for all objects that reference it.

For example, if you drill down into mySalesperson from the Customer class, and change the name attribute, you are not changing the salesperson the customer belongs to, but the name of the salesperson. This change will be reflected everywhere in Greentree where the salesperson's name would normally be seen.

To change the salesperson a single customer belongs to, you must change the Object ID of the reference mySalesperson.
