Country Maintenance
Use this form to set up country codes that can be assigned to companies, customers, and suppliers.
Options Reference
Each option and field on the form is described below. Mandatory options and fields are highlighted in red.
You can import country-specific post codes from a text file.
You can import country-specific state and city information from a text file.
You can add or change a post code.
Code
Enter a code, of up to eight alphanumeric characters, to represent the country.
Name
Enter a country name of up to 30 alphanumeric characters.
Use phone number masking
Define a format for all phone numbers within a country. This format defaults to all forms where you can enter numbers.
Highlight invalid numbers
Select this option to display invalid phone numbers in the colour defined in User Preferences. This option is available when Use phone number masking is also selected.
If a phone,
fax, or mobile number fields display an error, you can hover the mouse
over the field to display the value that the user entered.
Phone/Fax mask
If phone number masking is in use, enter the phone and fax number format in this field. This is the only format Greentree accepts when you enter numbers for supplier and customer contacts.
For example, a New Zealand phone or fax number has the format: (##) ### ####. The only characters that you can enter are: # + - ( ). Users must enter numbers in this format.
Mobile phone mask
If phone number masking is in use, enter the mobile phone number format in this field. This is the only format Greentree accepts when you enter numbers supplier and customer contacts.
For example, a mobile phone number can have the format: (###) ### ###. The only characters that you can enter are: # + - ( ). Users must enter numbers in this format.
Default date format
Select the date format you want to apply to this country.
UK English spelling
Select this option to display field names and menu options in UK spelling.
US English spelling
Select this option to display field names and menu options in US spelling.
Address options
These options determine how addresses display on standard forms when this country is assigned to the address.
Use State in address details
Select this option to assign a state where it is applicable to address details.
Use Time zone in address details
Select this option to assign a time zone where it is applicable to address details.
Print Country in address details
Select this option to print the country in the address block when addresses are printed on forms.
Print Country in Uppercase
This option is enabled if the previous option is selected.
Select this option to print the country on forms in uppercase.
Print State in address details
This option is enabled if the Use state in address details option is selected.
Select this option to print the state in the address block when addresses are printed on forms.
Print Surburb in address details
Select this option to print the suburb for an address on forms.
Print Suburb in a separate line
This option is enabled if Print Suburb in address details is selected.
Select the option to print the state on a separate line within the address block on forms.
Print Suburb in Uppercase
This option is enabled if Print Suburb in address details is selected.
Select the option to print the state on forms in uppercase.
Label description options
Postal code
Enter up to 10 characters to describe how to represent the postal code — for example, Post code (NZ), ZIP code (US), and the like. This description is the label of the postal code field.
State
This field only displays if you select the option to Use state in address details. Enter up to 10 characters to describe how to represent the state, for example, State (US), City (NZ), and the like. This description is the label of the state field.
Suburb
Enter up to 10 characters to describe the suburb, for example, Suburb (NZ), City (US), and the like. This description is the label of the suburb field.
Tax number
Select the description from a pre-defined list, that will precede the tax reference number when it is referenced throughout the system, and printed on documentation.
Taxation options
Use GST/VAT
Select this option to apply one standard rate of tax to all taxable items — for example in New Zealand and England.
Use Australian GST
Select this option if tax rates can be variable for different types of stock items — for example, in Australia. Since some Australian tax rates can also include WET (Wine Equalisation Tax), the WET option is enabled in Tax Code Maintenance when a country with this tax indicator is selected.
Use North American Tax
Select this option to apply North American tax rules. If you select this option, the North American Tax option is selected in Tax Code Maintenance when a country with this tax indicator is selected.
Import Duty Group
If you are using the Import Costing module, and duty function, assign a duty group which relates to the country in terms of the duty rules that apply. Duty group codes are set up in Duty Group Maintenance.
Intrastat/EC Sales
These fields are only applicable, and only display, if the company is subject UK Intrastat and EC Sales reporting.
