Device Maintenance


Use this form to set up devices that you want to connect to Greentree, such as cash drawers, printers, pole displays, and paper cutters. You can set the devices up as templates that you can edit to be specific to a station.

Options Reference

Each option and field on the form is described below. Mandatory options and fields are highlighted in red.

Device name

Enter a unique code to represent the device, up to 30 characters long.

Device description

Enter a more extended description to represent the device as applicable.

Device type

Select from a device type:

  • Cash drawer
  • Printer
  • Pole Display
  • Paper Cutter

Default port

Enter the default output port. For example, you can enter this as LPT1 or COM1. For devices other than printers only physical local port addresses can be used, and the device must be connected locally to the workstation, as multiple workstations per device is not supported. For printers the printer name can be entered, as specified in the Processing System Status and Setup form.

Default ini string

Enter the default command that will activate the device when the transaction trigger occurs. This should be on the form of: nn,nn,nn,nn, where nn is an ASCII value of a character responding to the character that must be sent to the device to initialise it (for example, 27 = OPEN CASH DRAWER).

Default reset string

Enter the default reset string for the device. This should be on the form of: nn,nn,nn,nn, where nn is an ASCII value of a character responding to the character that must be sent to the device to reset it.

Information

Device parameters are defaults only, and can be edited to make them station-specific in POS Station Device Maintenance on the Station Maintenance form.
