Dimension Calculator

This feature is enabled if the IN Control option Enable line quantity calculation/update is selected. It gives you access to a dimension calculator on the SO Entry, SO Packing Slip Maintenance, AR Invoice Entry, and IN Transaction Entry forms.

Use the calculator to enter dimension unit quantities, then select an option to Update Line Quantity, so that the calculated unit of measure total updates back to the transaction line, and the dimension details entered using the calculator are retained.

Example - AR Invoice Entry

As soon as a dimension controlled item and a location (where applicable) is selected in a transaction line, the Calculate/Update Line Qty button is enabled on the Line Item tab.

InformationThe dimension table will be pre-populated with all active dimensions for the selected item if the IN Control option Display all dimensions during data entry is selected.

If the option is not selected, the table is empty and you must select dimensions individually.

As you enter the unit quantities for each dimension, the system will calculate the unit of measure quantity using the dimension conversion. Click Cancel to close the form at any time, or click Update Line Quantity to update the total Qty UOM quantity back to the transaction line.

Information

If a selling to stocking UOM conversion is specified for the item, and the transaction line uses the selling unit of measure, Greentree will convert the dimension Qty UOM (stocking) total into the equivalent selling unit of measure quantity when the update occurs.

Once the unit of measure quantity is updated to the transaction line, you can view or edit the dimension detail by clicking the Dimensions button on the Line Item form. You can also use the calculator to recalculate the line quantity (as long as the line quantity is still editable based on standard transaction processing).

If the item is both serial/lot controlled and dimension controlled, the calculator may still be used, but a serial/lot number must be entered before the dimensions being populated to the table (where the IN Control option Display all dimensions during data entry is selected), or selected. When you click the Update Line Quantity button, both dimension details and serial/lot details are retained for the transaction line, based on what was entered into the calculator.
