Location Balances by Dimension


This enquiry is accessible from the IN Inventory Item Maintenance form for items that are dimension-controlled. Use it to view balances for an item at a dimensional and serial/lot (if in use) level.

Example 1: Balances for a Lot Controlled and Dimension Controlled Item

For a lot controlled dimension item, the enquiry form is not populated when it is first launched. Select whether you want to View by dimension or View by Lot No. The selection you make determines what the primary sort will be for the enquiry. Click Apply when your selection is made.

If you select the View by Lot No option, balances display sorted by Lot No, in ascending order. To view additional detail with regard to which dimensions are in each lot, click the + button beside the lot number to extend the enquiry.

You can also view details for a specific location, or all locations. To view only details for a specific location, select the location in the Location field and click Apply. When the enquiry form displays, the Location field is pre-populated with a default location based on this hierarchy:

The All locations options is set to selected.

Click All locations to display details for all locations which have a balance.

Quantity balances display as both units (pieces), and in the stocking unit of measure for the item.

Information

A Unit Cost also displays by serial/lot if you don't select the View by Lot No option.

You can toggle between views by double clicking the value in the Lot No or Dimension column for a line.

Example 2: Balances for a Dimension Controlled Item

If an item is not lot controlled, you can view balances by a specific location or all locations (as outlined above).

Dimensions are sorted in ascending order and quantities display for each dimension by location as both units and in the stocking unit of measure.

The Location Balances by Dimension enquiry is also available to access from Sales Order Entry, using the Stock Status button on the Line Item tab of the SO Entry form.
