Calculation of Dimensioned Line Value

A dimensioned price total is calculated for any inventory line that has a weight assigned. The price total also incorporates a discount and tax.

These rules apply:

If the Actual Weight field value does not exist, or equals zero

Price calculation = Active line quantity x IN item's unit weight x IN item's unit price

For example:

  • Active line quantity = 3
  • Item weight = 1.5kg
  • Item price = $5.00

Dimensioned price total calculation = 3 x 1.5 x 5 = $22.50

If a discount is applicable, it is deducted from this price.

For example, if a 5% discount applies, the total price = $22.50 x 0.95 = $21.37.

This example can be seen in the image displayed in SO Entry (where no actual weight is entered).

If an Actual Weight field value does exist, and does not equal zero

Price calculation = Active line quantity x (Actual Weight/Active line quantity) x IN item's unit price

For example:

  • Active line quantity = 3
  • Actual weight = 5.5kg
  • Item price = $5.00

Dimensioned price total calculation = (5.5 รท 3) x 5 x 3 = $27.50

If a discount is applicable, it is deducted from this price.

For example, if a 5% discount applies, the total price = $27.50 x 0.95 = $26.12.

Notes:

  • If a unit of measure conversion applies to the line item (for example, the line unit of measure is entered in the selling unit of measure), Greentree converts the line quantity to the stocking unit of measure before calculating the price.
  • If any of these line quantities are edited, Greentree recalculates the line price without considering the weight, even if it was entered:
    • Packing Slip Maintenance - quantity supplied
    • AP/AR Invoice Entry - quantity
    • PO Receipt Entry - quantity received

This is because the unit price may have altered for the item, since the dimensioned price was last calculated. To recalculate the dimensioned price, you must re-enter the Actual Weight for the line.
