Generic Advanced Search Feature
An advanced search feature is available to use within maintenance forms for these modules:
- General Ledger
- Accounts Receivable
- Accounts Payable
- Inventory
- Job Cost
- Fixed Assets
The feature provides detailed search options enabling masterfile records to be found easily based on user-defined criteria.
To use the feature, click the binocular icon on the masterfile toolbar or press F4. When the advanced search is activated, the form contains search criteria relevant to the masterfile.
Search Criteria Groupbox
This section of the form layout presents the properties of the object, like an an inventory item, you can search for. The most likely search filters are displayed on the form as a default (for example, code, location, and the like). Click the More or Less buttons to add or remove search criteria. This gives you access to additional criteria for the masterfile, not shown on the form as a default.
The selection criteria options are using the type of property you are applying as search criteria. Generic options are:
- The generic selection criteria for a numeric attribute, such as quantity on hand are:
- Is equal to
- Is not equal to
- Contains
- Is greater or less than a particular value>
- Is greater than or equal to a particular value
- Is less than or equal to a particular value
- The generic selection criteria for a date attribute, such as supercession
date are:
- Is equal to
- Is not equal to
- Is After
- Is before
- The generic selection criteria for a boolean attribute, such as serial lot item are:
- is True
- is False
- The generic selection criteria for a string
attribute, such as inventory code
are:
- Selection criteria
- Is equal to
- Is not equal to
- Contains
- Contains (exact)*
- Doesn't contain
- Starts with
- Starts with (exact)*
- Is greater or less than a particular value
- Is greater than or equal to a particular value
- Is less than or equal to a particular value
These are all case insensitive, with
the exception of those marked with an asterisk.
Selecting Tree Branches
You can select a masterfile tree to include in the advanced search criteria. This is a three step process:
- Click the More
button, and then select the tree. For example:
The Select tree branches button displays on the search form.
- Select the criteria for the query. There
are two options:
- Is in one or more branches
- Is not in one or more branches
- Click the Select
tree branches button to select the tree branch or branches
that you want to apply. A form displaying the tree structure and branches
for the selected tree displays.
Select the option next to the branch or branches you want to select, and click OK.
Selecting User Defined Fields
You can search with any user-defined fields set up for the masterfiles you are searching for. When you click the More button, user-defined fields display in the bottom of the dropdown list. The search criteria that you can apply to user-defined fields will depend on the nature of the field.
Apply the Search Criteria
Click the Search Now button to apply the search criteria. Results appear in the Search results table at the base of the search form. If you want to select a masterfile to return to the original form from which the search was activated, double click the line in the search results table.
The advanced search form closes if you select Close search form on selection. You can select another masterfile to supercede the current selection if required.
