Sequences Tab

Use this tab to view existing general ledger account sequences, and define new ones that you can apply in data entry, maintenance, or enquiry functions.

Options Reference

Each option and field on the form is described below. Mandatory options and fields are highlighted in red.

Existing Sequences

These are the sequences that have already been defined for this company's general ledger. The levels are segments defined in your chart of accounts. For example, if you have three segments in your COA, you will have three levels. When levels are ordered in different ways, a sequence is created.

Sequence Name

Enter a name to recognise the general ledger sequence by. Select Maintenance, Transactions, and/or Enquiry options to indicate which forms the sequence applies to. For example, if Maintenance is selected, this sequence is the one presented when a General Ledger account is selected/entered in all maintenance forms.

Sequence definition table

This table displays the details of the selected sequence. For each segment you can specify:

Persistent

This indicates whether you want segments to default when general ledger forms are accessed. For example, if you have an account structure: XX.YYY.ZZZ, and segments XX and YYY are persistent, then when a form is cleared, the account segment values for XX and YYY remains in the General Ledger account selection field, and the cursor defaults to the start of the last segment.

Visible

This means that on any form where you enter a general ledger account, the segment will be visible. Enter a Default Value for the segment. When a transaction is saved, Greentree inserts the default value into the invisible segment.

Default Value

You must enter a default value if a segment is invisible. Greentree will insert the default value into the invisible segment when a transaction is saved.
