Custom Tab

Use this Tab to assign and display tree and user-defined field information for Contacts.

InformationIf a Contact tree is defined as Mandatory, then you can't save a new Contact unless you have allocated the Contact to a branch in that tree.

If you want to remove a Contact from a tree, you cannot do this in Contact Maintenance. This must be performed using the Contact Tree Maintenance feature.

Options Reference

Each option and field on the form is described below. Mandatory options and fields are highlighted in red.

Trees

A tree is a hierarchy of classifications that represents meaningful groups of items that your company deals with. Trees are available throughout CRM. You can allocate an Item to a specific Branch within a Tree. This field lists all the Trees available for the item, and the allocated Branch.

To view the Tree Structure and to select a Tree Branch, you need to drill down on the Value field for the Tree. Select the Branch. To change a Tree Branch, drill down and select a Branch.

Notes:

  • Trees are defined in System > Trees > Tree Maintenance.
  • To remove a Tree Branch allocated to a Contact, you must use the Contact Trees item located within CRM > System > Relationships.

UDF (user-defined) Fields

Use custom fields to define any additional fields you need for a CRM item. Custom fields are defined in CRM > System, located under the CRM Item it relates to. Defined custom fields appear here. You can enter and edit the values of custom fields.

Information

If the contact is also a customer set up in AR Customer Maintenance), Greentree will synchronise UDF fields. This applies the first time a contact is linked to a customer, and whenever UDF values are updated subsequent to that. This logic applies:

Organisation OA and Customer CA:

  • For a boolean type UDF, OA updates CA;
  • For a non-boolean type UDF, if OA has a value, then OA updates CA;
  • For non-boolean type UDF, if OA has a null value, then CA updates OA.
