Tool Layout & Options
The inspection form has four sections:
History
This section contains all objects that are been inspected. For example, if you accessed the inspection tool from within Supplier Maintenance, then the supplier object is added to the history bucket. If you then accessed Sale Order Entry and inspected a sales order, that sales order is added to the history bucket, below the supplier that was already there.
Data buckets
Up to three data buckets display on the form (based on a setting that is explained below). A data bucket is somewhere that objects can be placed so they can be easily retrieved later on.
Properties list
This list contains all of the properties for the object that is currently selected in either the history bucket or the data bucket. Each property has an icon next to it that lets you easily identify what type of property it is:
Numeric (Decimals
and Integers)
Alphanumeric
(Strings)
Binary
True/False (Booleans)
Collections
Dates
References
Clicking on a property displays the value for that property in the value list (part 4 of the form).
Value list
This contains the value of the selected property. It also shows the type of the property and the length of it (if it is a string or a decimal). In the previous example you can see that the address1 property of the selected supplier is displayed.
Other Functions
You can also:
Drag and Drop
You can put an object into either the history bucket or one of the data buckets by dragging:
- A collection or reference property from the property list into the bucket.
- An object from another bucket into the bucket you can move an object between buckets). If you move an object from a data bucket into another bucket, that object will be removed from the original data bucket. If you move a collection property (such as allInvoices) from the property list into a data bucket, the objects in that collection will be exploded into the data bucket.
If you move a collection property
into the history bucket, the
collection will not be exploded in the history bucket, rather it will
be moved in as a collection. You can select that collection and display
the objects in it without expanding the collection into a data bucket.
If you double click on a reference or collection property, it is moved to the history bucket and selected.
Manipulate Data Buckets
You can add or remove data buckets by selecting the Add Data Bucket and Remove Data Bucket menu options in the View menu.
A data bucket can be emptied (all objects removed from it) by clicking on an object in the data bucket and then selecting the Empty Data Bucket menu option.
Individual objects can be removed from a data or history bucket by selecting the object and pressing either the backspace or delete key.
