Analysis Code Budget Maintenance
Use this form to set up budgets for an analysis code and bank combination. You can use that information to report on variances between actual and budgeted values for transactions assigned to specific analysis codes.
Options Reference
Each option and field on the form is described below. Mandatory options and fields are highlighted in red.
Code
Enter or select a unique code of up to 10 alphanumeric characters for the budget. More than one budget can be prepared for each year.
Description
Enter a description of up to 30 alphanumeric characters for the budget.
If you are
setting up a budget for the first time, you must save and recall the budget
before you can enter details.
Table (budget year)
Use this table to view and select a budget year. When you've edited a budget year, its status is set to open. You can set it to closed if you want to make the budget read-only.
View/edit budget year
Click this button to enter budgets for individual analysis codes, banks and years.
To enter budget details, select the year on the table, and click View/edit budgets. The Budget Number and Description default to this form in read-only format. Select the bank code that the budget is for, and the analysis code that budget values will be entered for.
Negate values
Select this option if the budget values you are entering would normally be maintained in the ledger as credit (negative) values, but you want to enter them as positive numbers. If an expense analysis code is selected, this option defaults to being selected.
Spread Value
Select this option to enter a total value for all periods, and allow Greentree to spread the value evenly across each period. If this is not selected, you will enter the budget value for each period into the table. If you have selected the option to spread the value, you can still change the value in the table.
Budget table
When the bank and analysis code have been selected, this table displays the periods for the year you are entering a budget for. You can enter a value into the table under the Value column heading. Greentree calculates the Year-to-date value and displays it in the Value YTD column. The total value of the budget for all periods displays in read-only format in the Value field.
