Shortcut Function Keys


These shortcut function keys are available to desktop, but not on tablets. These override browser-specific function key shortcuts when a Greentree form is open in the browser.

Mapping of function keys is not available.

F1

Launch the online help.

F2

Works with the smart button generic actions. 

Save & Add New for transaction entry forms.

Save & Clear for masterfile forms.

Shift F2

Delete. 

The 'Delete line' action on the grid line menu.

You can use this key while positioned on a line in a grid, or while positioned within the line popup. In both cases, the user is prompted with the relevant generic delete message to confirm.

This shortcut works with the smart button generic action for records.

F4

Launch grid line popup form.

The shortcut is only functional on forms with data entry grids, and where the grid is available.

  • When positioned on a grid line, F4 launches the popup form for that line. Content is displayed as editable or read-only depending on the record status.
  • For editable records, if  positioned anywhere on the form outside the grid, an empty popup is launched enabling the user to enter a new line. 
  • For read-only records, if the user is positioned anywhere on the form outside the grid, the popup form is launched for the first line (in read-only format).

F5

Clear. 

This shortcut interfaces with the smart button generic action.

F7

Move to the previous record.

Shift F7

Move to the first record. 

F8

Move to the next record.

Shift F8

Move to the last record. 

For all actions associated with F5, F7 and F8, where changes have been made prior to selecting, a save message will display.

F9

Used in conjunction with search fields, combo boxes, and date fields. For date fields, F9 launches the date picker. For search fields, these applies:

Field is empty / F9

Displays the droplist showing all available results.

Manual text entry exactly matches a single item / F9

Displays the droplist with the exact match highlighted.

Manual text entry exactly or partially matches multiple records / F9

Displays the droplist with the first exact or partial match highlighted at the top of the list.

Pressing F9 is the same is clicking in a date or search field.

F10

Drills down to the source transaction or record based on the user's current position.

Shift F10

Toggles between expanding and collapsing form headers. 

If there is more than one collapsible area on a form, Shift F10 will expand/collapse these collectively. 

F12

Displays the smart button menu.

If the menu is already in view, F12 will close this.

Escape

Closes the form.

This is the same action as selecting 

Where changes have been made prior to selecting, a save message will display.
