Multi-Select Search Field

The multi-select search field lets you add more than one selection to a field. For example, email addresses.

As records are added, the height of the multi-select field expands to accommodate these.

Where the content exceeds the maximum number of rows, a vertical scroll bar is provided.

To select:

  • Select to view a droplist of records available for selection
  • Click or tap to select a record within the droplist. [TAB] or [ENTER] is not a valid selection.

Each selected record is added to the right of the last selected record, and highlighted in the droplist.

The droplist remains open for further selections to be made.

Records must be added one at a time.

Manual entry:

While focus is in the search field:

  • enter a partial description
  • Enterprise search will automatically activate
  • [TAB] or [ENTER] off the search result to select.

Focus will remain in the search field positioned to the right of the match.

Email address specific

If more than one address is being entered, a space, comma, semi-colon or [ENTER] are valid delimiters.

As soon as a delimiter or [TAB] is used, the address is validated.

A valid address updates to display with a tag box around it.

  • Where a delimiter is used, focus will move to the right of the record.
  • Where a [TAB] is used, the droplist will close and focus will move to the next field.

An invalid address displays in red.

Email addresses that are entered manually are not saved in the database for subsequent retrieval.

To remove:

  • Select beside the record to be removed;
  • Click or tap on the highlighted record within the droplist to deselect; or
  • Place focus in the field to the right of the record, and backspace.

As records are removed from the field, highlighting against their name is also removed from the droplist.

To close the droplist:

  • [ESC] - Leaves focus in the search field
  • [TAB] - moves to the next available field.

Once the droplist is closed, all highlighting is cleared.

This means if the droplist is reopened to select additional records, existing selections will no longer show as highlighted.
