Serial Numbers and the Quote Tab

You can record actual costs on individual serial numbers of an item. This records the cost that the serial was receipted to stock with. This is useful for high value items where shipments vary significantly in cost.

On the Quote tab, you can display the Pref. Serial# (preferred serial number) column by selecting it from the Select visible columns right-click menu for the grid. You can choose a serial that is in stock and not associated with another job. Enter ? to search in this column displays a list of serials that:

Are in stock
Are not pre-assigned to another transaction (for example, Job, invoice, or Sales order)
Have not been selected as a preferred serial in another job line
